Dumb Gems From A Cricket Crazy Nation
There are geniuses finding weird reasons as to why India lost to Australia in the Cricket World Cup Final.
Here are some of the gems:
(1) Jay Shah has no cricket experience but he is the head of BCCI (they didn’t remember that India has won several matches before this under the same BCCI leadership team).
(2) Kapil Dev was not invited (conveniently forgot that Kapil Dev has been in the bad books of BCCI since the launch of IPL itself and was never invited for a major match).
(3) Sadhguru was invited by BCCI but XYZ wasn’t (I guess if they had caught Sadhguru sneezing on Camera, they would have cited that as a reason for India’s loss and as if anybody else’s presence would have made India win the final match).
(4) The Indian team was overworked before the World Cup itself (Forgetting that the very same team had won 10 straight matches defeating all the other teams in CWC and was outclassed by Australia in the final match only).
(5) Indian players aren’t mentally strong (well, they won 10 straight matches in CWC as chokers — didn’t they?)
The folks who spill such gems on SM also claim to be rational thinkers, D-Stock, etc. Irony died a thousand deaths and more perhaps!
The fact is that Australia played better on that 1 day than India and won the World Cup. That is all. We have to introspect where we lost the match and work on it. Nothing more and nothing less.
In India, except for a couple of people, every Tom, Dick, and Harry has an opinion as to how Virat or Rohit or Shami should be playing international cricket. Nothing wrong with having an opinion, but when you spill such (dumb) gems, please also don’t claim to be a rationalist or a thinker in the same breath.
As someone said, Intelligence is bound whereas Stupidity has no limits.
