Minority Appeasement, Hindus, Gurus and Politics of Tamilnadu
Mr Narayanan Thirupathy of BJP said in an interview a few days back that #Isha does not represent the entire Hindu community in Tamilnadu. But that only makes one wonder why some DMK folks and Muslims are trying to make the #COVID_19 situation in Tamilnadu a religious problem by bringing in Isha repeatedly and unnecessarily!
These folks have been raising baseless questions on COVID_19 spread in Isha Mahashivratri festival although it is now over 50 days since the event is over and even though the Coimbatore District Collector has declared that nobody at Isha has been found positive for COVID when tested. They are also floating blatant conspiracy theories like dead bodies moved back & forth, etc.
Isha has debunked all this nonsense & conspiracy theories with enough proofs already in their own website and in public media too. But some of the lower level cadres of DMK especially seem hell bent on spreading rumours with no basis whatsoever, sharing some dumb yellow journalism articles (read as Nakkeeran).
It clearly appears that these folks like politicising the whole #TablighiJamaat issue and make it a Hindu — Muslim issue in Tamilnadu for their own political gains with minority appeasement. They seem desperate to hide over 85% infections and are trying to blame it on Isha, rather foolishly it appears.
So, it begs the question as to how politicians really perceive Isha in Tamilnadu?
The rumour mongers citing repeatedly that lakhs of people are attending Mahashivratri celebrations at Isha seems to reinforce an opinion that Isha is a unifying force among Hindus in Tamilnadu and they feel threatened by it.
Is there any other Hindu guru who is being targeted so much in TN? Apart from Nityananda, no one else has so much of political and media spotlight on them. Does that mean these commies, religious conversion groups and political parties do not feel threatened enough by the others?
Also, they may feel that just like any other Hindu group in TN, Isha can also be pushed around to any extent because they usually do not care much about any muck thrown on them and keep going heads down about their own work.
#Sadhguru has never identified him as a #Hindu spiritual leader in Tamilnadu restricting himself to any one community nor has he ever suggested to anybody to vote for one political party or other. So, Mr Narayanan is not fully wrong in his statement. However, it is interesting to see communists and DMK in Tamilnadu feeling otherwise.
But how long will these attacks continue? If cornered and attacked, even a cat will turn fierce. If they keep peddling these lies and hurting the Isha foundation in TN, they may lose a significant vote bank, whether Sadhguru says so to his disciples or not. The 2021 elections are just around the corner and the senior management of DMK party hopefully drives in some sense with the lower cadres.
