When Sadhguru undertook the Rally For Rivers, one of the ways to show your support for the cause was to give a missed call. There were a few who mocked it at that time. We had explained about it in our last post: https://medium.com/@bigfundu/missed-call-democracy-da72522f47c6

Now, the Central Government has set aside an amount of 19,000 crore rupees for the rejuvenation of 13 major rivers in India.

This spend is for implementing the recommendations from the Rally For Rivers policy documentation to rejuvenate the rivers.

Basically, the missed calls that people gave became the grounds to push the policy documentation with the central government and today the government has announced proper policies in place for river rejuvenation. This is called as citizen participatory governance and this is what the missed call has achieved.

Congratulations to the Rally For Rivers team and Sadhguru. This is a great step forward for environmental campaigns world-wide showing that good changes need not come through protests always.
