This quote proved to be the story of Blockbuster and Netflix.
In 2000, Netflix’s owners tried to sell their startup to Blockbuster for $50 million. Since Netflix was unprofitable at the time, $50 million might have sounded too high.
Blockbuster executives “laughed us out of the room,” Netflix cofounder Marc Randolph recalled on Twitter, celebrating 25 years of the company.
However, even Netflix’s founders would not have imagined the company would grow to a worth of more than 150 Billion USD and Blockbuster is almost non-existent today.
Innovation is not something one can ignore in business, especially in the crazy world of startups. One has to be constantly on the watch for changes in the business environment.
Ultimately, as Sadhguru says, “if you resist change, you resist life”.
