The big Apple event happened and a lot of new things were announced.

What stood out in this event was that the Apple execs didn’t mention the word “AI” even once during the company’s WWDC keynote.

It seemed like a deliberate choice and a stark contrast to other Big Tech companies that have embraced the term. Yet, all of the products announced had AI technologies embedded into them, the biggest of them being “Apple Vision Pro”.

Apple Vision Pro is bound to change computing in the coming times (or at least that’s the hope right now). Although the device and its functions seemed very much like the #metaverse ecosystem, Apple carefully avoided those words.

The Photos app is spruced with new #MachineLearning (ML) features that allow the iPhone to recognize more photos of a user’s favorite people and even their pets!

Live voicemail, powered by the on-device neural engine, can generate live transcripts as the caller records their voice message.

There were many other such interesting AI applications embedded into existing and newer systems announced. Most other Big Tech companies would likely tout these as “Artificial Intelligence innovations” to appeal to the current enthusiasm around AI.

But Tim Cook and his team did not.

One reason cited is that Apple likes to form trends and not follow trends. So, they do not even want to appear that they are following the current buzz of AI.

Oh, well … an AI by any name is still AI! And Apple being Apple will still be loved for their products whatever description they may give to their products.
